MISD Former Teacher Appointed to Kentucky Board of Education

Former Murray Independent School District Murray Elementary School teacher (1987-2019) and the 2014 Kentucky Teacher of the Year has been appointed by Kentucky Andy Beshear (D) in his first act as Kentucky Governor. Bloodworth, a 2015 Murray State University Distinguished Alumnus Recipient, was announced alongside the new 11 new members appointed to the Board of Education.

The appointees who join Bloodworth (Murray), West Kentucky Educational Cooperative Special Education Literacy Consultant, are: Patrice McCrary, (Bowling Green), Mike Bowling (Middlesboro), former state representative and attorney, Sharon Porter Robinson, (Louisville)-former president American Association of Colleges for Teacher Education, Lu Young, (Nicholasville), former Jessamine County Schools Superintendent named 2012 Kentucky School Superintendent of the year, Cody Pauley Johnson, (Pikeville), Lee Tood, (Lexington), former University of Kentucky President 2001-2011, David Karem, (Louisville), former head of Louisville’s Waterfront Development Corporation, Claire Batt, (Lexington), an Intervention Tates Creek Elementary Teacher, Alvis Johnson, (Harrodsburg), former high school teacher, athletic director and assistant principal serving as UK’s assistant athletic director.
