MISD Continues NTI Instruction Until May 8 (Last Day For Students)

NTI Instruction until May 8

Coy Samons, Murray Independent School District superintendent, announced today the Murray Independent School District will continue NTI instruction through May, 8 (last official day for students).  This announcement is in compliance with Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear communicating with all Kentucky superintendents today there will be no in-person classes for the remainder of the 2019-2020 year.  Samons participated with other Kentucky superintendents through a video teleconference call with Beshear, and KDE Commissioner Kevin Brown, which directed all Kentucky school districts to continue NTI days until last day for students.

With the recent passage of Senate Bill 177 (2020) due to COVID-19 concerns, the minimum requirement of 170 instructional days for public school districts in the Commonwealth has been waived.  However, the requirement of 1062 hours on instruction remains in effect.  The Murray Independent Board of Education voted unanimously on 04/16/20 to move the end date of the 2019/2020 School Year for MISD from May 15 to May 08.

NTI instruction for students will be provided through May 08, 2020.  All MISD schools will exceed 1062 hours of instruction by this date.

Food Service will continue through May 15, 2020 with most recent operations plan.
