Murray Independent School District is proud to celebrate MISD students, staff, and school community in the latest release of Kentucky Accountability data for the 2024-2025 school year.
Under the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) and state statutes, Kentucky Schools are held accountable for a combination of academic and school quality indicators and measures known as “ indicators”. The state indicators include: state assessment results in Reading & Math, state assessment results in Science, Social Studies and Writing, English Learner Progress, Quality of School Climate and Safety, Postsecondary Readiness (high school only), and Graduation Rate (high school only). For each state indicator there are five “Status Ratings” ranging from very high to very low and five “Change Ratings” from increased significantly to declined significantly. In addition, an Overall Performance Rating is determined by combining performance in the state indicators based on both Status and Change.
Murray Independent is proud of each school for their performance on the state assessments and other indicators in this year's accountability system. Murray Elementary, Murray Middle 6-8, and Murray High received the top rating, Blue, and Murray Middle 4-5 received the overall rating of Green. In multiple areas/indicators Murray Independent Schools rank at the top of the list for student performance and success. Notably, Murray Middle School’s overall score, 90.3, was the 3rd highest among district scores in the state; in Reading and Math students in all tested grades at Murray Elementary, Murray Middle, and Murray High performed “Very High”, or the highest level of performance, on assessments. Murray High School’s ACT composite average for the 2025 Junior Class was 21.2, which is the highest average in the Western Kentucky region, the 5th highest District composite average in the state, 9th highest high school score statewide.
