The Murray Independent School District congratulates Dana Pearson, MISD Maintenance Crew member, as the CFSB Tiger Pride Staff Aware recipient. Pearson was honored and recognized for his exemplary dedication to the MISD during the October MISD Board meeting. (Pearson was unable to attend, and later Belinda Taylor, MISD Administrative Assistant to the MISD Superintendent, presented Pearson with the award.)
Pearson’s nominations recognized his hard work, positivity, and incredible impact he makes each day. “Dana is a go-to person for all our needs beyond what our custodians can handle. He's honest, hardworking and has the type of sense of humor that turns any issue into a positive. He and the crew do phenomenal work every day. They are integral in how our district operates. Dana makes sure what he is working on is fixed, not band aided back together. His level of know-how and abilities are vital to make our buildings run smoothly from doors to floors and everywhere in between.”

Scott was honored and recognized during the October MISD Board meeting for his outstanding dedication, excellence in teaching, and the lasting impact he provides to students each day.
Nominations described Scott as an amazing teacher who supports and pushes his students to go beyond their expectations constantly. “He has made an enormous impact on our student population by elevating their math skills and assisting students to achieve ACT math goals beyond six points in a single year in his classroom. He studies results, establishes clear expectations and offers support well beyond the regular classroom. Mr. Scott has created an amazing environment for learning. Students know from the minute they walk in the door on Day 1 what they will be doing and what is expected of them. He holds his students to a high standard and pushes them to exceed their own expectations.”

Halloween Read and Treat Celebrates Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library! 📚🎃
The Calloway County Public Library hosted its annual Halloween Read and Treat on Tuesday, October 20, celebrating the joy of reading and the impact of Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library in our community!
Children and families enjoyed a fun-filled evening featuring reading activities with Murray Head Start, Murray State University Racer athletes, MHS Leo Club Members, special visits with Dunker, a photo booth, free books, and Halloween treats. Families also had the opportunity to register eligible children, from birth through age five, for Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library.
The event highlighted the importance of early childhood literacy and the Imagination Library’s mission to inspire a love of reading by providing free books to young children.
Thank you to the Calloway County Public Library, Murray State University, and all the families, volunteers, and community supporters who helped make this celebration of reading possible!

A memorablel 70-Year Reunion was celebrated with the Murray High School Class of 1956. A special shout-out to Shelley Stubblefield, Murray Middle School principal and her students for assisting with this historic moment.
Mrs. Stubblefield hosted the reunion at the historic Murray Middle School for class alumni to tour their former high school home. Murray Middle School Student Council 8th Grade members, Carter Story, Chase Bilodeaiu, Aubrey Schafer, Claire Forester, and Aiden Pitman , provided tours of the Murray Middle School and served lunch to them provided by the MISD Food Services and sponsored by The MHS Alumni & Friends Association. A special presentation was given by Wesley Bolin, MHS teacher and local historian.
The event concluded inside the MMS Auditorium with a panel set up with a question/answer session between 1956 Graduates and 8th Grade Student Council Members. Dr. David Meinschein, Ed.D., MISD Superintendent, Whitney York, MISD Assistant Superintendent, greeted alumni, as well as Dr. Richard Crouch, MISD Board member chair, and Gina Winchester, MISD Board member. Tony Jarvis, MHS principal, greeted the class with their 1956 composite to reminisce and remember. Other MISD representatives and members of The MHS Alumni & Friends Association were on hand to greet the class.
Special thanks are sent to all who assisted in the planning and preparing for greeting this special class and recognizing their significance to the MISD Tradition, Pride, and Excellence. We especially send a huge thanks to Sally Crass, MHS 1956 graduate, for her dedication and planning of this monumental historic event.
“Without a doubt, this group of alumni made an impact on all of us, we will carry these memories with us as huge black and gold stripes! We love each of you, Sally Jones Crass, Mary Billington Shipley, Max Morgan, Charles Walston, Fred Wells, and Larry Wilson.(Technology made it possible to zoom meet with classmate Charles Walston in Boise Idaho!) This special moment in history will be cherished."

The Leadership Tomorrow group comprised of both Murray High and Calloway County High school junior and seniors attended Arts Day. These future leaders spent the day exploring art, culture, and career possibilities in creative areas during Arts Day at the College of Humanities and Fine Arts.
Students experienced a variety of hands-on and engaging sessions throughout the morning, then headed off to Murray Art Guild to learn more about arts in the community.
MSU’s sessions included: “Faster Than You Worry, Louder Than You Critic” with Daryl Phillipy from the Theatre Arts Program. “Behind the Beat: Navigating the Modern Music Industry” with Ashley Cumming and Ulf Oesterle of the Department of Music. “Story in 5 Photos” with Rebecca Williams and Cintia Segovia Figueroa from the Department of Art & Design “Blackout Poetry: Excavating Poems by Erasing Words from Existing Texts” with Gwen Paradice from the Department of English and Philosophy.
The group then toured the new Murray Art Guild and gathered in the courtyard for a workshop creating packing-tape sculptures.
Thanks to Murray State University College of Humanities and Fine Arts and The Murray Art Guild for providing an up close and personal look at career opportunities and creative fun in the arts. #murrayschools

Warren Beeler, Kentucky Department of Agriculture-Deputy Commissioner, visited Murray Elementary to see the weeklong All in for Ag activities and experience the agriculture learning throughout Murray Elementary School.
During the visit, Faith McCafferty, Murray Independent FFA Vice-President, provided Beeler with an overview of Murray Elementary School’s All in Ag Week events, introduced him to the community and agricultural partners, and highlighted the many ways agriculture is being integrated throughout the Murray Elementary School Curriculum.
