This week is National School Bus Safety Week!
Each day, 8,795 school buses in Kentucky transport more than 385,000 students.
Safety starts with our amazing school bus drivers and school bus aides.
We send a huge salute to our 2025 Murray Independent School District Transportation Team.
Thank you for keeping our students safe!
( A reminder from KDE for our drivers---- if any school or church bus used in the transportation of children is stopped for the purpose of receiving or discharging passengers, with the stop arm and signal lights activated, vehicles approaching from any direction must stop and wait until the bus has completed receiving or discharging passengers and has been put into motion.)

We’re inviting local businesses to partner with us in recognizing these outstanding individuals through monthly sponsorships (gift cards, prizes, or contributions) and the Educator of the Year award in May.

Murray Preschool Headstart students visited the Penny Pumpkin Patch this week for fall festivities.
Murray Middle School fourth grade students dressed as idioms to depict the different meaning from the literal meanings of the words. Students have been learning how idioms are a common part of language and can be a complete sentence or part of one, making them a fun and natural way to speak.

Murray High School seniors, Selvam Antony, Anatasia Arkova, Brandon Daughaday, and Ethan Peng were honored duringt the MISD October Board Meeting as Semifinalists in the 2026 71st annual National Merit Scholarship Program.
We congratulate these students who are now a part of the rich MHS tradition. Since 1974, Murray High School has boasted 62 National Merit Finalists, 3 Semi-Finalists, and 15 National Merit Commended scholars.
Antony, Arkova, Daughaday and Peng join the approximate 16,000 Semifinalists names by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC). These academically talented high school seniors have an opportunity to continue in the competition for some 6,930 National Merit Scholarships worth nearly $26 million that will be offered next spring.
Over 1.3 million juniors in about 20,000 high schools entered the 2026 National Merit Scholarship Program by taking the 2024 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT), which served as an initial screen of program entrants. The nationwide pool of Semifinalists, representing less than one percent of U.S. high school seniors, includes the highest-scoring entrants in each state.
