The Community Education Advisory Council’s MKY Cares Mistletoe Market Place will be hosted Saturday, November 22 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Sunday, November 23, 2025, from 1 to 5 p.m. at the Murray Calloway County Area Technology Center, 126 Robertson Road North, Murray.
Over 35 vendors will be featured at this new holiday event. Prior to COVID, the Ricky Lamkin MKY Cares Auction was slated to kick off to support non-profits in the community to honor the late Ricky Lamkin who passed in 2019. After a pause when the COVID pandemic forced the cancellation and discussing many options, the MKY Cares Mistletoe Market Place will move forward with the primary mission to aid non-profits and student groups from Murray and Calloway County schools. “We believe in this project because we believe in the people of Murray and Calloway County,” said Dan Hicks, chair of CEAC.
MKY Cares, an organization started in early 2019, is a grassroots effort designed to raise money and then distribute funds to the various non-profit organizations in Calloway County. The idea of the organization began through a collaborative effort of the Community Education Advisory Council and Family Youth Services Center, representing both Murray and Calloway County Schools.
Student Groups from the Murray/Calloway Area Technology Center’s Carpentry, Welding, Culinary, and Machine Tool classes will be onsite as vendors showcasing their talents and items. The Murray Calloway ATC Nursing Program students will provide healthcare assessments and accept items for the senior citizens of the community. Students from the Leadership Tomorrow Class, composed of both Murray High and Calloway County High junior and senior students will participate as a vendor offering children’s face-painting, and reindeer food for the upcoming Christmas season.

MHS Footbal Head Coach Melvin Cunningham is showing off the new Pink/Striped M the MHS Football players, coaches and parents painted for tonight's game. The pink tiger striped M is in support of October's Breast Cancer Recognition Month and the Pink Out Aura at tonight's Ty Holland Stadium.
Tigers return home tonight from a month-long road schedule to take on Hopkins Central at Ty Holland Stadium at 7 p.m. "With a win tonight the Tigers will be crowned District Champions, and have a chance for a perfect regular season," said Melvin Cunningham.
Our Band Seniors will also be recognized tonight and the Class of 1985 will be in the house celebrating their 40-Year Class Reunion.

Murray Middle School greeted fall with their annual Fall Festival. A great night of treats, haunted houses, and Tiger fellowship. Thanks to all you made this event possible--it was obvious by all the faces of our students it was a festive event.
The ninth class of the MHS Athletic Hall of Fame will be inducted Saturday evening, October 25 at Murray High School. A light reception will be held at Murray High School in the Commons Area. October 23, 2025---Members of the 2025 Leadership Tomorrow (LT) Class attended Art’s Day held on Murray State University’s Campus. Junior and senior students from Calloway and Murray High schools experienced hands on experiences to potential careers in the College of Humanities and Fine Arts.

Murray High School seniors, Selvam Antony, Anatasia Arkova, Brandon Daughaday, and Ethan Peng were honored duringt the MISD October Board Meeting as Semifinalists in the 2026 71st annual National Merit Scholarship Program.
We congratulate these students who are now a part of the rich MHS tradition. Since 1974, Murray High School has boasted 62 National Merit Finalists, 3 Semi-Finalists, and 15 National Merit Commended scholars.
Antony, Arkova, Daughaday and Peng join the approximate 16,000 Semifinalists names by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC). These academically talented high school seniors have an opportunity to continue in the competition for some 6,930 National Merit Scholarships worth nearly $26 million that will be offered next spring.
Over 1.3 million juniors in about 20,000 high schools entered the 2026 National Merit Scholarship Program by taking the 2024 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT), which served as an initial screen of program entrants. The nationwide pool of Semifinalists, representing less than one percent of U.S. high school seniors, includes the highest-scoring entrants in each state.
