Dr. Meinschein and his fellow classmates are visiting area nonprofits who help make a difference in the life of a child. The Murray Independent School District highlights these with Dr. Meinschein to provide more awareness to our families.
First Stop- CASA by the Lakes. Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASAs) are court-appointed volunteers that advocate for a child’s best interest. Our goal is to ensure all children have a safe permanent home through advocacy, support, and empowerment. They believe every child deserves a chance to thrive!

Murray Elementary School students were able to experience the taste of plums through the USDA Fresh, Fruit and Vegetable Program Grant. Through this grant students are introduced to new fruits and vegetables weekly. Special shout to our Food Service ladies and MES Volunteers for assisting with this program! #murrayschools

All volunteers are required to complete a yearly confidentiality training and submit a new volunteer form. Each volunteer is required to become approved. This mandates a state-background check. There is a suggested $10 donation fee to perform the background check. Once the background check is received and approved the check remains on file five years until another check is required.
Please mark these dates on your calendar to attend a training course for the 2025-2026 year. (Remember all volunteers must be approved to attend field trips.)

Today was the first day for Murray Preschool Head Start Tigers- Students at Alexander Hall, Ruby Simpson, Willis Center, and the Whitten Center had big smiles on their first day! #murrayschools

During the MISD August Board of Education Meeting DeDe Shastri, MMS 8th grade, Shiva Shastri, MMS 4th grade, and Aiden Farr, 2025 MHS graduate, were recognized with MISD SRO Officers for their SRO Student Designed Art chosen for the SRO’s Cruisers. DeDe is credited with designing MMS, Shiva-Murray Elementary, and Aiden Farr, Murray High School. SRO Officers Jeremy Parton (MES), Patrick Morris (MMS), and Mike Ray (MHS) were on hand for recognition. All Murray Independent Preschool Whitten, Alexander Hall, Whitten, and Willis centers hosted their open houses prior to their first day of school Monday, August 18, 2025. Dr. David Meinschein, MISD Superintendent, and David McDowell, MISD DPP, visited each center and greeted the students and administration as they prepare for their first day of school. We welcome our smallest Tigers and send best wishes for their first day of classes!
The ninth class of the Murray High School Athletic of Fame will be introduced at Murray High School Saturday, October 25, 2025, at 5 p.m. Prior to the induction ceremony, a light reception will be held at 4 p.m. in the commons area for all new inductees and their families, former inductees, Murray High alumni and community members.
The Murray High School Athletic Hall of Fame Committee is honored to announce this year’s inductees: Kathy Outland- Class of 1980; Roman Shapla- Class of 1995; Jeanne Maddox- Class of 1998; Richard Blalock II- Class of 2002; Daniel McGee- Class of 2014; 1997 Girls Basketball Team; Coach Steve Duncan- 2008-2013; Donnie Winchester- Contributor- Class of 1977
The overall Murray High School Athletic Hall of Fame was established in 2016. The Murray Independent Foundation for Excellence provides sponsorship to the MHS Athletic Hall of Fame program recognizing these Murray High School Athletic individuals who have contributed to the Murray High School athletics on and off the field.
There were many incredible coaches, athletes and contributors for Murray High and the Murray Independent School District. This day of recognition will give the past and present members of the Murray High Athletic Family, our community, alumni from near and far, a day to reminisce about the many memories of the time they were involved in Murray High Athletics.
The public are invited to attend.
