All Murray Independent Preschool Whitten, Alexander Hall, Whitten, and Willis centers hosted their open houses prior to their first day of school Monday, August 18, 2025. Dr. David Meinschein, MISD Superintendent, and David McDowell, MISD DPP, visited each center and greeted the students and administration as they prepare for their first day of school. We welcome our smallest Tigers and send best wishes for their first day of classes!

The ninth class of the Murray High School Athletic of Fame will be introduced at Murray High School Saturday, October 25, 2025, at 5 p.m. Prior to the induction ceremony, a light reception will be held at 4 p.m. in the commons area for all new inductees and their families, former inductees, Murray High alumni and community members.
The Murray High School Athletic Hall of Fame Committee is honored to announce this year’s inductees: Kathy Outland- Class of 1980; Roman Shapla- Class of 1995; Jeanne Maddox- Class of 1998; Richard Blalock II- Class of 2002; Daniel McGee- Class of 2014; 1997 Girls Basketball Team; Coach Steve Duncan- 2008-2013; Donnie Winchester- Contributor- Class of 1977
The overall Murray High School Athletic Hall of Fame was established in 2016. The Murray Independent Foundation for Excellence provides sponsorship to the MHS Athletic Hall of Fame program recognizing these Murray High School Athletic individuals who have contributed to the Murray High School athletics on and off the field.
There were many incredible coaches, athletes and contributors for Murray High and the Murray Independent School District. This day of recognition will give the past and present members of the Murray High Athletic Family, our community, alumni from near and far, a day to reminisce about the many memories of the time they were involved in Murray High Athletics.
The public are invited to attend.

Murray Elementary and Murray High Schools Named One of 2025 America’s National Healthiest Schools
Murray Elementary and Murray High School are among the 134 Kentucky schools recognized by the National children’s health organization Alliance for a Healthier Generation in its 2025 list of America’s Healthiest Schools, celebrating 1,120 K–12 schools nationwide for their commitment to advancing whole child health. Murray Elementary and Murray High School were awarded in the five categories: Murray Elementary was awarded in five categories, Nutrition and Food Access, Local Wellness Policy, Physical Activity/Physical Education, Social-Emotional Health, and School Health Services. Murray High School was also awarded in five categories as well, Nutrition and Food Access, Local Wellness Policy, Health Education, Staff Well Being and School Health Services
Awarded schools are in 34 states with more than three-quarters (81 percent) of awarded schools receiving Title I funding indicating that they serve a high percentage of students from low-income households.
Dr. David Meinschein, MISD superintendent, applauded Murray Elementary and Murray High School this national recognition. “Murray Independent School District is committed to ensuring all students have access to resources and services needed for a healthy learning environment.
