Back to School events have been hosted at Murray Middle School this week, as well as Murray Elementary School students met their teacher today for the 2025-2026 year during Front Porch visits. The first day of school for the Murray Tigers is Thursday, August 7, 2025. We welcome our Tiger Families to the 2025-2026 school year! #murrayschools






Dr. David Meinschein, MISD Superintendent, was a guest on WNBS Mornings in Murray. During the on-air interview with Jason Billington, Ivy Eells, a Murray Elementary School kindergarten student who will begin school next week, was a featured guest with Dr. Meinschein. (Also pictured , Jay Simmons Superintendent Liaison for WKEC and the MSU COEHS, and grandfather of Eells.)

Today is the last day for our complimentary Summer Meal Pick Up----Pick up from 11 a..-1 p.m. @ MMS off 9th Street in Parking Lot Behind the Playground. These meals are offered to anyone under 18. #murrayschools

Please note: There will be two Volunteer Trainings at Murray Middle School this week. Tuesday, July 28, and Wednesday, July 29 from 6:30 -7:15 p.m. Anyone wishing to volunteer at any of the MISD campuses may attend these trainings. No registration is required. #murrayschools

We send sincere appreciation and thanks to our community for our Back To School Block Party hosted by the Murray FRYSC and Calloway FRYSC. The event for Preschool-12th grade students at both Murray and Calloway was a full evening of welcome back for our students! #murrayschools










Important Back to School Information:
Murray Middle 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students may bring their supplies for their lockers on Back-to-School Dates. Students are free to bring locker items. Please remember, all decorations must go inside the locker. However, no decorations held with adhesives (tape/stickers) are permissible. Magnets, photos, mirrors, and locker shelves are allowed.
For 4th, 5th, 7th, and 8th grade back to school nights, enter through the main front entrance (Main Street). For 6th grade back to school night, enter through the carbo entrance (the door in between the cafeteria door and front entrance doors). (You may come and go anytime between times listed. The entire process should take about 30 minutes.
Please be prepared to pay your student fee of $30 during your back-to-school night. This fee covers computer technology, maintenance of student technology equipment, toner cartridges for student printing, computerized instructional programs literacy program-student novels/instructional tools science program, covers replenishment of consumable instructional materials, art program projects and activities for students throughout the school year, and locker fee. #murrayschools

Congratulations to Coy Samons, former Murray Independent School District Superintendent, as a 2025 Chamber nominee for Educator of The Year. Samons, who recently retired after a 37-year Distinguished Educational Career, was recognized as a nominee at the recent Annual Chamber Celebration.
The MISD congratulates Scott Pile -the 2025 Educator of the Year, and Erica Gray, also an Educator of the Year nominee. Pile and Gray are with Calloway County Schools.

(Please be prepared to pay your student fee of $30 during fee day.) Transportation forms must be completed to ride the bus the first days of school. Home Visit Times are given out. New students are asked to turn in all remaining paperwork.
MES PTO will have information and $5 t-shirts for sale as long as they last.
A Murray Independent Volunteer Training in will be held in the MES Gym at 12:15 p.m. MES invites families to come to this training to be able to volunteer soon after school starts. However, volunteers may attend the other trainings at the other schools and Board Office if this one isn’t convenient. In addition to the numerous volunteer opportunities, Parents and grandparent volunteers are invited to assist with Safety Patrol in the mornings from 7-7:20 a.m. once a week in a hallway, or with a car line to keep students safe. The FRYSC also has numerous volunteer opportunities available. #murrayschools

The Murray Independent School District invites parents of students, and community friends to join the Murray Independent School District Volunteer program, one of the most successful in Kentucky, averaging 23,000 to 30,000 volunteer hours each year. During the 2024-2025 year, 509 volunteers attended the numerous volunteer trainings offered to become approved certified volunteers. This past year volunteers logged 31,600 hours. A breakdown includes Murray Elementary School (5,000), Murray Middle School (2,500), Murray Preschool-Head Start (1,950), Murray High School (650), MISD Athletics (4,000), MHS and MMS Band (13,000), Academic Clubs (2,000), and Booster Club (2,500).
To volunteer in any capacity, including chaperoning a field trip, all MISD volunteers must meet all approved requirements before they are allowed to volunteer. All MISD volunteers are required to attend yearly volunteer trainings and have a current approved state background check on file. (While background checks are good for five years, there is a suggested $10 fee for new and updated background checks).
New volunteers, who have never volunteered with the MISD a $10 fee is required to complete your background check at the state. Once the $10 is paid—the background check is current for five years. However, yearly training is required.
