Murray High School 2025 Football Welcome To The Jungle Homecoming was a full slate of activities. We congratulate the 2025 MHS Football Queen, Sasha Patel, and her court, Kate Chipman, Hannah Elmore, Kendyll English, Flora Falwell, and Carrigan Tucker.
We welcomed home alumni to their alma mater from the 1965, 1975, and 2005 classes for their reunions,
Homecoming ended with a great finale as the MHS Tigers defeated the Marshall County Marshals, #murrayschools









Murray High School " Welcome to The Jungle Homecoming," is celebrated today at Murray High School, as members of the 1965 and 1975 graduating classes visited Murray High School classes and students. A light lunch was provided by the Murray High School Alumni & Friends Association in the library. MHS alumni from the 1965 and 1975 classes, Ben Humphrey(65), Joe Ward(65), Mark Williams(75) and Marti Erwin(65) spoke to MHS classes about their days at MHS and their careers after high school graduation.
MHS alumni from the 1975 class and members of the 1974 State Championship Football team, spoke to the MHS football team members in the John Hina Fieldhouse describing their days as MHS Football players. 1974 State Championship Football alumni, Dale McCuiston, Steve Porter ,Doug Shelton, and Craig Suiter, were the former football team speakers. Former assistant coach of the 1974 state championship team, Mark Brady, also spoke to current players.
Melvin Cunningham, MHS Football Coach and members of the football presented these alumni with former playing jerseys with their 1974 respective numbers from their MHS playing days. Dr. David Meinschein, EdD., MISD superintendent, was on hand to greet alumni.
Members of the 1965 class are celebrating their 60-Year reunion, and 1975 graduates are celebrating their 50-Year reunion. Groups will be at the game this evening as MHS Tigers play the Marshall County Marshals. Kick-off time is 7 p.m., with crowing of the football queen at 6:40 p.m.

Murray High School (Large High School Category), and Murray Middle School (Large Middle School Category), were recognized as the 2024 Region One Winners for High Attendance by the Kentucky Department of Pupil Personnel.
Murray Elementary School will support High Attendance Day with High Attendance Racer Day. Murray State University College World Series Basketball Coaches and players will be on hand to encourage high attendance among students, as well as Grandparents attending Grandparents Day encouraging high attendance.
To celebrate walk to school day, Murray Middle School students are invited to meet at US Bank (across from CVS Pharmacy) between 7- 7:30 am. Staff will be on hand directing the traffic line at US bank. Students will begin walking from the Bank to MMS at approximately 7:30 a.m. The MHS drum line will lead the way with MMS students walking behind them. In addition to an afternoon high attendance pep rally with attendance recognition prizes, students will also work together at the respective grade levels to decorate hallways. The grade level with the best hall decorations will win a prize.
The Murray High School Den will have its world-famous cappuccino bar. Awards and drawings will be held throughout the day recognizing students for attendance.
The Kentucky Department of Education (KDE) recently launched a new statewide campaign — “You Belong! Attendance Matters” — to raise awareness about the importance of regular school attendance. Families, educators, and community members can find resources on when to keep a child home due to illness, steps communities can take, and strategies to support The Kentucky Directors of Pupil Personnel have designated Tuesday, September 9th as High Attendance Day across the state to highlight the importance of students being in school every day.
