A delegation of students from Murray High School were recognized for their participation in the Kentucky Youth Assembly (KYA) Conference held at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Louisville November 23-25.
Outstanding Delegate - Tyce Gibson
Outstanding Speaker - Gavin Gorman
Outstanding Speaker - Emeri Whipple
Ali Yarali served as co-chair of a committee during debate on day one of KYA. On day two, Yarali was selected amongst the delegates he chaired to serve as Pro Tempore in the Bluegrass House chamber where he facilitated debate over student proposed bills.
A group of four Murray High students wrote a bill over mandated recess time for students that sparked lively discussion at the conference. After two days of debate, the bill presented by Adeline Pitman, Kenzie Myers, Allyman Dalloul, and Nate Johnston passed through both chambers and was signed by the student governor.
Murray High School was also recognized as a Premier Delegation for their outstanding preparation at the conference amongst all students and advisors. The Murray High advisor for the conference was Michael Robinson with assistance from Gillian Miller.
