-Carmen Garland, Rotary President chair, Gift Committee Murray Rotary Foundation, and Luke Crawford, Murray Rotary treasurer, present a $2,965 check to Murray Foundation For Excellence (MFFE), The Den, and The Murray Foundation For Excellence, to the MISD WIFI program, to provide Wi-Fi services to students in need.

Carmen Garland, Rotary President chair, Gift Committee Murray Rotary Foundation explained this funding for this project is through the Murray Foundation for families and children, established through various donations from personal donations, and fundraisers. The Board normally appropriates $5,000 in annual awarded funding. However, this year, by far, was an exception. “The gift committee proposed additional financial assistance, and the board unanimously agreed,” she said. “We saw this as being very necessary to ensure students have Wi-Fi access, so their educational needs are met.”

The Murray Independent School District Foundation For Excellence (MFFE) works closely with the MISD to provide internet service for students in need. This partnership is collaborated with Murray Family Resource Youth Service Center (FRYSC), and The Den Youth Services Center (The-Den YSC), and an anonymous donor.

Morgan Carman, FRYSC coordinator, appreciates the relationship with the MFFE. “The need for this service is growing weekly as we see the economic effects the pandemic has had on families. These funds will allow us to continue providing internet in students home during periods of online learning, and after school hours, so all MISD students have the same opportunities to learn,” she said.

“We are happy to partner with the Rotary Club in providing this necessary service in these un-precedented times,” said Crafton.

“Thanks to Murray Rotary for joining together to provide this needed service,” Turner added.

Morgan said currently, 14 students, are receiving internet service through MISD Wi-Fi Funding .
