MISD Board Members Visit MES in Special Called Work Session

MISD Board Visits MES

Murray, Ky., April 11, 2023----In a special-called Murray Independent School District board meeting, the Murray Independent Board members attended a work session at Murray Elementary School.

While there, board members gained a first-hand experience of the staff and the exemplary work of Murray Elementary School tigers. "Today's visit at Murray Elementary School gave the members of the board of education a snapshot of the good work going on every day on this campus," said Coy Samons, MISD Superintendent. "It also provided an occasion to see challenges faced by staff and students on a daily basis."

"What stood out to me was how teachers were able to subdivide classrooms to allow specialized instruction at all levels," said Adam Seiber, MISD board member.  "The students were very engaged, and this is no accident, as our rankings illustrate this."

Murray Elementary School students greeted board members as student ambassadors to tour Kindergarten, first, second, third grade, and Arts and Humanities classrooms. Mechelle Grant's second grade classroom provided a special presentation to Coy Samons, MISD superintendent.  Students presented Samons with a Red Cape and announced him as Hero for the Day, while reciting information students learned about Samons role as superintendent, after conducting research on school superintendents, prior to Samons visit.
