Murray High School Ranked 6th Best Kentucky Public High School in 2023 U.S. News & World Report

MHS Ranked 6th by U.S. News and World Report

U.S. News & World Report released the 2023-2024 Best High School Rankings and Murray High School is ranked sixth out of 390 public high schools in Kentucky, identifying MHS as one of the best high schools in the Commonwealth and nation with a 96.62/100 score.

U.S. News and World Report, the global authority in education rankings, places Murray High School in the top three-percent nationally at #598, after nearly 25,000 U.S and District of Columbia high schools were assessed.

The number six state ranking positions Murray High School with the following public Kentucky high schools: Dupont Manual (Jefferson County Public Schools), J. Graham Brown School (Jefferson County Public Schools), Highlands High School (Fort Thomas Independent), NorthOldham High School (Oldham County), Beechwood High School (Beechwood Independent), and Murray High School (Murray Independent).

“The Murray Independent School District is pleased to see Murray High School distinguished once again by U.S. News and World Report as one of the best high schools in Kentucky. This accomplishment is a reflection of commitment to excellence from preschool through twelfth grade by students, parents, teachers, staff, and community,” stated Coy Samons, MISD Superintendent.

Tony Jarvis, MHS principal said Murray High School faculty and staff are once again pleased to see the school's 2023 ranking. "We have a phenomenal staff who are dedicated to the education of all our students. We are also supported by a strong community, school board, central office, and excellent feeder schools that value our tradition and emphasis on instruction and success,” he said. “All these groups combine to promote student achievement, at the highest level, and we are proud to be number six in the state."

The Best High Schools rankings are available exclusively on usnews.com and include data on a variety of factors, such as enrollment, student diversity, participation in free and reduced-price lunch programs, graduation rates and the results of state assessments. U.S. News worked with RTI International, a global research firm, to implement the comprehensive ranking methodology. #murrayschools
