Murray High Junior Marli Mehta won the 2024 First District American Legion High School Oratorical Contest held in Eddyville, Ky.
Competitors were required to deliver an eight-to-ten-minute prepared oration on some aspect of the Constitution with an emphasis on the duties and obligations of a citizen to our government. Following the prepared oration, students delivered an impromptu assigned topic speech on a constitutional amendment.
Mehta competed against three other students to win the prestigious speaking award.
As contest winner, Marli received a certificate of distinction and $500. Mehta moves on to the area contest to be held in Eddyville February 11
